One of the biggest mistakes that most travelers make when hitting the road is taking too much along with them. There are many articles offering travel and baggage packing tips for traveling light, but not so many touting the benefits of this practice. Airlines today are making lighter packing tips for airline travela necessity by charging for checking in bags and closely following weight guidelines. Lighter baggage packing are encouraged for following travel,it is also supported by many other good reason.

Security Is The Biggest Reason To Follow Travel and Baggage Packing Tips

One of the biggest reasons to follow travel and baggage packing tips for lighter loads is security. It is much easier to keep track of a single carry on bag than it is to worry about an assortment of bags to and from the airport. You don’t have to worry about a bag getting lost or stolen if there is less to hang onto. If all of your items fit in a single carry on, you also don’t have to fret about whether all of your belongings will make it to your destination with you. Traveling light is the safest way to travel by far.

Travel and Baggage Packing Tips Includes Convenience

Vacation is not the time for strained muscles due to lugging too much baggage around. When you abide by travel and baggage packing tips that help you fit all of your items into a single bag, you can move from one location to another with ease. You don’t have to stand in line at the baggage check in counter and you don’t have to wait anxiously for those familiar bags to come down the carousel when you arrive at your destination. You also spend less time packing, unpacking and re-packing again when there is less stuff to take care of.

Flexibility Is Important Travel and Baggage Packing Tips

When you follow light travel and baggage packing tips, you have more flexibility in terms of transportation and hotel rooms. When you are not weighted down with a number of bags, you can hop on trains and trams with ease. You can change airline flights without worry and you can make alternative arrangements if you happen to miss connections. A lighter load allows you freedom to explore your travel destinations without worrying about moving a bunch of luggage back and forth with you.

There is no doubt that less is more when it comes to travel and baggage packing tips. Only one bag should be carried during travelling,it allows worry free travel with ultimate flexibility. It is no wonder that so many seasoned travelers brag about how few bags they can get by with. Less stuff means more vacation fun.

Advance reservations

Unless you intend to hire on the spur of the moment, it is advisable to make an advance reservation and essential if it forms part of your travel plans. You can reserve your car through your travel agent, tour operator, airline, hotel, car hire broker, or direct with the car hire company.Popular car groups will be sold out some time in advance during the high season. It is a good idea to book in advance so that the car group of your choice is ready for you.  It is also usually cheaper to book in advance. If renting for more than one or two days it will probably be cheaper to book inclusive rates through a broker such as www.cheap-car-hire-ontheweb.com

One Way Rentals

With larger car hire companies It is very often possible to make one way rentals between their locations but they must be requested at the time of booking. There is usually a charge levied for one way rentals.

Youths

You will need to check with your chosen car rental company their policy on this. Many car rental companies will not hire cars to persons under 25. Some like Cheap-Car-Rental are able to rent cars to persons between the ages of 21 and 25 but charge a supplement for this age group.

Sat Navs

Check with your car hire company if it is possible to arrange the hire of GPS or SatNav when collecting your rental car.It will cost about $10 a day.

Child/booster seats, ski racks, snow chains.

These will need to be requested at the same  time you reserve your car. They will need to be paid for at the time the car is collected and are charged at local rates.

When collecting your car

You will need to complete a rental agreement and show:

  • A clean driving licence
  • Your car hire voucher (if pre-paid)
  • A credit card This usually has to be a Visa,  Mastercard or AMEX card.  A debit card or cash is sometimes acceptable but not usually.

When you take delivery of your car

Before driving off check the cars condition minutely. Check for dents and scratches to the exterior.  Check the condition of tyres. Check the underside. Check the interior seats, carpet, door panels.Any damage should be reported to the car hire company prior to the car being driven to avoid you being charged for the damage.

The no-frills airline, launched by Southwest in the 80s, is no longer a U.S. phenomena. Low cost carriers are popping up around the world. They are taking over domestic and international flights throughout Europe and Asia and select routes in Africa, South America, and the Middle East. A few even operate international flights. And many are profitable.

Yet there is a flip side to cheap tickets. Travelers can spend a good amount of their time scouring the web for the best deal. Not all countries have a low cost carrier and not all airports are serviced by a discount airline.

Many low-fare companies cannot be booked through on-line agencies or consolidators, such as Expedia and Orbitz. Promotional offers are usually limited and expire on a daily if not hourly basis.

And when you find a flight, it is difficult to compare prices. The following airfare secrets will reduce your search time and prepare you for any additional travel time.

Research

  • Determine which carriers service the route you wish to fly. Most airport web sites include route maps as well as a list of airlines. Other options will only be found if you check the web site of both airports for arrivals and departures.
  • If you are traveling abroad, identify local on-line agencies and portals of discount airfares.
  • Low cost carriers often use secondary airports. Make sure you know where you’re going and can get a rental car before you book. Most low-fare carriers and many consolidators provide such information on their web sites.
  • Many low-fare carriers offer point-to-point service. You may not be able to check-in for a second flight at a transit desk. Thus you may need to build-in time between flights to accommodate any passport formalities, claim your luggage and check-in for the second leg of your journey.
  • Security precautions introduced by major credit card companies may limit your ability to book flights on foreign web sites.

Getting the Best Deal On Airfare

  • Initiate your search with on-line agencies and consolidators.
  • Subscribe to the airline and to the portal’s newsletter.
  • Utilize services that enable you to set a price, such as the Orbitz “Deal Detector”. Orbitz will send an email if fares on the route you select drop to the price level you set. They provide the service for free.
  • Use the consolidator as a tool. Book directly with the airline. This may lessen the service charge without affecting the airfare.

Comparing Fares

  • Low cost fares are often quoted on a one-way basis.
  • Taxes, handling fees and other surcharges are not always included in the initial price. Click through to the final page to effectively compare cost.
  • Airfare may be quoted in the airline or consolidator’s local currency only. Converting airfares to USD will facilitate comparison.

Before You Depart

  • Pack a lunch or a snack and drinks for all. Food and drinks are no longer included in the price of the ticket!
  • Go to the airport early if you want to sit next to your spouse or your kids. Seating is likely to be open and boarding is often based on the order in which passengers check-in.
